About Mammalries
Mammalries is a free educational resource dedicated to the comparative anatomy of mammary systems across the animal kingdom. Through interactive diagrams and detailed annotations, we aim to make this fascinating area of biology accessible and engaging for students, educators, and the curious alike.
Our Mission
Mammary anatomy varies enormously across species — from the two-teated inguinal system of a zebra to the thirteen pairs found in an opossum. Yet this diversity is rarely explored in an interactive, visual format. Mammalries was created to fill that gap, providing accurate, research-informed diagrams that highlight the unique adaptations each species has evolved for nursing their young.
What We Offer
Each species page features an interactive SVG diagram with labeled anatomy, detailed annotations explaining key structures, and a milk composition profile comparing nutritional content. All diagrams support zoom and pan for close inspection on any device.
Accuracy & Sources
Our content is informed by peer-reviewed veterinary and zoological literature. While Mammalries is designed for educational exploration rather than clinical reference, we strive for accuracy and welcome corrections from subject-matter experts via our contact page.
